area of Large-Eddy Simulation in the School of Mechanical & Materials
Engineering. This interesting and challenging post is supported by NERC
and is funded for a period of three years.
The successful applicant will join a thriving CFD research team to work on
large-eddy simulation of dispersion in environmental flows, making
simulation predictions extended by extreme value theory. The simulations
will be conducted on our own SGI Origin-2000 and the NERC Fujitsu VP
supercomputer. Experience with large-eddy simulation in the context of
environmental flows and dispersion is essential, and familiarity with
advanced statistical techniques such as extreme value theory is highly
