group in Statistics and to extend our teaching provision to create a broader
range of courses for our highly motivated adult students. Your background
may be academic, research, commercial or industrial; you may have
substantial relevant professional experience.

Chair in Statistics
-------------------
You will have a distinguished research and teaching record and proven
administrative ability, and will:
* inspire colleagues in research and teaching
* lead the current reworking of our undergraduate
curriculum in Statistics
* attract external research funding
* work effectively across discipline boundaries
Lectureships in Statistics
--------------------------
You will conduct research and teaching in Statistics, and will:
* have an good record in teaching and research, or
a clear potential for developing this
* have the potential to attract external research
funding in due course
* enjoy working in a teaching team with colleagues
If you are close to finishing your PhD in Statistics,
we would give you time to complete your thesis.
All these posts are permanent appointments. Two of the Lectureships arise
from our development of a new course on Statistics and other Quantitative
Methods for Business in the University's Business Studies BA Programme. This
course will contain some material on Operational Research methods, and so we
would welcome applications from people with relevant experience for at least
one of these Lectureships.
The Professorial salary will be not less than GBP36 401 per annum. The
Lecturer salary will be between GBP17 238 and GBP30 065. The precise figure
in each case will depend on your academic attainment and experience.
