Hello
I am interested in seeing what people's views are on the issue of permanent
versus random sampling sites. Take pasture yield assessments as an example. If
one is to repeatedly estimate yields over time in a given paddock using x number
of quadrats, which form of sampling is preferred? Is it better to have
predetermined sampling sites (marked using, say, star pickets), or to randomly
throw a quadrat down each time the paddock is visited?
I would also like to say thanks to those who responded to my previous email
regarding estimating flower colour and heritability. The responses were varied
and it appears that this area has a lot of potential for further research. It
was comforting to know it's not just me struggling with these issues.
Thanks once again
Carole
