Oxagen is a human genomics company with a broad technology
base, performing large-scale genetic analysis on collections
of human pedigrees in order to understand the mechanisms and
causes of common diseases.
As part of the expansion of our bioinformatics team, we are
recruiting for a statistician / geneticist to assist in
experimental design and analysis of these studies.
This is an opportunity for someone with an enthusiasm for
the application of quantitative methods to problems in human
genetics / genomics to enter this exciting and rapidly
developing field. To work as part of our interdisciplinary
research team you will need the following:
A postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in
statistics, population genetics or quantitative genetics.
Strong computing skills, preferably in a UNIX environment.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience in applying quantitative methods to human, plant
or animal genetics is desirable but not essential. You will
however need to be capable of rigorous critical thought
while being self-motivated and adaptable within a team
environment.
