Dear list members,
in my field of research (criminology and social psychology) the data are
usually measured on an ordinal level, however, the statistical
techniques to analyze the data (e.g. factor analysis) assume measurement
on at least an interval level or assuming multivariate normality. I am
aware of (some) possibilities of exploring the data and using the
statistical techniques anyway, but I was wondering if there is a more
well-founded discussion about techniques used in the social sciences and
measurement level. Do you know any good references?
Hope you can help me out, thanks!
