UNIVERSITY TEACHERS OF ACTUARIAL SCIENCE
17th Annual Conference
Monday 17-Tuesday 18 July 2000
Peterhouse, Cambridge
If you are interested in education and research in Actuarial Science,
you are invited to our annual conference which will take place on
Monday and Tuesday 17-18 July 2000 at Cambridge.
Accommodation and all conference activities will be in Peterhouse,
the oldest of the Cambridge colleges, which is in the centre of the
city of Cambridge. There will be the usual exciting social programme
as well as academic sessions covering all aspects of research,
university and professional education.
There will be two special interest sessions: one on Genetics
(invited speaker confirmed so far: Baroness O. O'Neill (Cambridge),
discussants Howard Waters and Angus Macdonald (both Heriot
Watt)); and one on the Tsunami initiative (invited speakers:
James Orr (Lloyds), David Simmons (Benfield Greig) and Richard
Chandler (UCL)). In addition there will be a session on Institute
issues, as well sessions for contributed papers.
There will also be a workshop entitled `Modern Approaches to Life
Insurance Mathematics' on Monday morning before the main conference
begins.This has been made possible by generous support from the
Memorial Education and Research Fund of the
Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. The workshop will be led by
Ragnar Norberg. It will start at 11.30am, with a break for lunch and
finish in time for the start of the conference at 2.30pm.
Lunch will be available at Peterhouse before the conference
for those who wish. The registration desk will be open from 11am on
Monday until the start of the main conference.
Cambridge can be reached easily by train from London (1 hour) and
from the major London airports (Stansted is the closest).
