WORKSHOP ON STATISTICAL MIXTURES AND LATENT STRUCTURE MODELLING
EDINBURGH, MARCH 28 - 30, 2001
Professor Christian Robert and I are organising the above workshop in
Edinburgh next Spring. The attendance at the workshop will be limited
to only about 45 people, almost completely by invitation only.
However, we are reserving up to 6 places for UK research students
whose research projects are close to the topics of the Workshop, and
the Royal Statistical Society has promised a sum of up to £1000 to
assist with the expenses of the students. (The major part of the funding
for the Workshop is coming from the EPSRC, but there is no component
within that grant to support the attendance of research students.)
We are therefore seeking expressions of interest from research students.
Since the demand for places could well outstrip availability, our
intention is to select, from those who apply, those people who appear
to have most to gain from the experience. As a result, students in their
first or second year of research may well be given priority, although
others should still apply.
Please encourage appropriate students to express an interest in this,
by contacting me at [log in to unmask] before NOVEMBER 15, 2000.
We shall try to respond well before Christmas.
They should include a brief paragraph about their project and an
indication of their year of study.
