Modernising NHS Hearing Aids Services
Statisticians/Data Analysts
We have the opportunity to appoint one or more applied statisticians
or data analysts to work with us on a number of studies including a
new national study evaluating digital hearing aids
(see http://pipe.ccta.gov.uk/coi/coipress.nsf/gdh on May 25th for
details) and several other highly interesting studies of the
effectiveness and cost effectiveness of NHS services for hearing
impaired children and adults
(see http://www.ihr.mrc.ac.uk for details of our projects).
The appointee will have the opportunity to work on large datasets and
to use methodologies that are appropriate for clinical evaluations and
longitudinal studies.
Technical expertise using statistical packages (eg SPSS, GLIM, Genstat,
MLn, Splus) to model data, experience using databases and spreadsheets
(eg Access, SQL, Oracle, Excel) would be very desirable. Experience of
web site design and maintenance would be helpful.
The posts are available until March 31st 2002 and will be on an MRC
salary scale, Band 4, with a starting salary of not less than £16,250
according to qualifications and experience.
Application forms are available from http://www.ihr.mrc.ac.uk
(Job vacancies).
