UK TRANSPLANT SUPPORT SERVICE AUTHORITY
UKTSSA is a Special Health Authority of the NHS providing a service to
all organ transplant units in the UK and Republic of Ireland and holds a
national database of patients awaiting a transplant, those who have
received a graft, details of donors providing organs for transplantation
and related support information.
Due to expansion of the Statistical and Audit Services Division at
UKTSSA we are seeking enthusiastic, self motivated individuals with
excellent communication skills to join an expanding team of
Biostatisticians responsible for analysing data held on the National
Transplant Database. Working in collaboration with the transplant
community, the team advise on matters relating to organ allocation and
patient care.
We currently have the following full-time vacancies:
SENIOR BIOSTATISTICIAN (Head of Section) (Ref SB)
Salary circa £28,000 (subject to evaluation)
We are looking for a motivated individual to manage a small team of
statisticians. The successful applicant will need at least five years
post graduate experience in the application of statistics in a medical
environment. You must be familiar with survival analysis techniques and
the development of multifactorial models of clinical outcome. The
successful applicant will be expected to manage projects involving a
statistical team and provide advice to statisticians within the
Division. You will be required to represent the Authority at meetings
with the transplant community and to give presentations at national and
international conferences.
Experience of project and staff management is essential, while
experience of producing peer review papers and presentation of
statistical analysis to a medical audience is desirable.
BIOSTATISTICIAN Salary £18,236 to £21,336 (Ref B1)
The successful candidate will be required to develop simulation programs
which evaluate the effect of changes to national and local organ
allocation rules. You will be responsible for developing existing SAS
simulation models and assessing the viability of alternative simulation
tools. You will be expected to work independently to produce detailed
analytical reports for the transplant community.
A degree in a numerate subject and experience of using simulation
packages are essential. Experience of SAS is desirable.
BIOSTATISTICIAN salary £18,236 to £21,336 (Ref B2)
We are looking for graduate statisticians to undertake statistical
analysis of data held on the National Transplant Database. You will be
responsible for conducting detailed analyses for presentation to members
of the transplant community and will be expected to contribute to the
Authority's publications.
The successful candidate must have a degree in statistics and be able to
work to deadlines, both individually and as part of a team. Experience
of survival analysis and of using SAS is desirable.
