SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN STATISTICS/EPIDEMIOLOGY
Starting Salary - up to £26,429pa
A Statistician is required for a period of 4 years to work in the
University Department of Child Health, situated in the Sir James Spence
Institute. You will be expected to perform statistical analyses
investigating lifecourse exposures and adult health outcomes using data
collected on the One Thousand Families from Newcastle birth cohort study.
This very important cohort was recruited in 1947 and has already been the
subject of four books and many prestigious publications. You will also be
expected to develop collaborative studies with other research groups,
further exploiting the Thousand Families dataset. These collaborative
partnerships will form the basis of applications for research funds. You
will also be expected to spend around one day per week providing
statistical advice and assistance to other research groups within the
department.
You should have workplace based experience of relevant statistical analyses
and data management combined with an MSc in Medical Statistics or a
comparable qualification. You should also have good interpersonal skills
and experience of report writing is an advantage.
