Apologies in advance for cross-posting.
The Statistics Group in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the
University of Bath seeks to fill one (permanent) position at the Lecturer,
Senior Lecturer, or Reader level in Statistics, tenable from 1st September
2001 or earlier by mutual agreement (we would be happy to find an
established researcher who would like to join us by 1st February 2001, but
we are equally interested in new PhDs or postdocs who might not come until
the summer or autumn of next year).
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the research
and
teaching activities of the Statistics Group, which obtained Grade 5 (the
maximum numerical score) in both the 1992 and 1996 Research Assessment
Exercises (RAEs) and 24 points (the maximum possible score) in a QAA
teaching assessment in 2000 (Bath is the only university in the UK with
this joint research and teaching distinction).
Candidates for the advertised post should have a strong research record in
any area within statistics and probability, but an interest in one of the
following areas would be particularly welcome: applied statistics, with
particular emphasis on computational aspects of statistical methods;
financial mathematics; and/or probability theory.
Salary in the range of #24,227 - #30,967 (Lecturer Grade B) or #32,510 -
#36,740 (Senior Lecturer/Reader) per annum, according to qualifications
and
experience (note that the University of Bath hires beginning lecturers at
Grade B, not Grade A).
