RSS RESEARCH WORKSHOPS
The RSS is keen to support research workshops in exciting and
important areas of statistics. The Society can contribute by
giving its support to an EPSRC (or other grant-giving body)
funding application, and by offering advice and critical
comments on draft applications. It can also offer modest
financial support. Recent successful applications supported
by the RSS include a workshop on Bayesian Nonparametrics, one
on Statistical Analysis of Computer Code Outputs, and one on
Statistical Mixtures and Latent-Structure Modelling.
The RSS Research Section Committee would like to encourage
further proposals. They may be on topics of general statistical
methodology undergoing exciting developments, on novel areas
of application, or on areas where statistics interfaces with
other disciplines. In the latter case, the funding proposal
may be directed elsewhere than the EPSRC.
Those interested in discussing potential applications and
exploring the possibility of RSS support are invited to contact
Andy Wood or Susan Pitts. Suggestions of suitable topics for
future workshops from interested statisticians are also
welcomed, whether or not they wish to be involved in organising
any resulting workshop. The EPSRC closing dates for
applications for workshops are 1 June and 1 December.
