Statistical Centre Director

The Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute is seeking an experienced
biostatistician with expertise in clinical trial design and analysis to be
Director of their Statistical Centre. The Statistical Centre is one of
Australia's leading biostatistical centres and is uniquely placed within a
specialist cancer hospital. The Centre is staffed by 4 FTE statisticians and
6 FTE data managers and is primarily involved in the design, coordination
and analysis of cancer clinical trials and other cancer related studies. The
Centre also undertakes the design and analysis of clinical trials and
related statistical and data management work for outside institutions and
pharmaceutical companies on a contract basis, and is the Trial Centre for a
variety of multi-centre trials.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent and be an accredited statistician
(AStat) or clearly meet the criteria for accreditation. Experience in the
design and analysis of clinical trials is essential. The applicant should be
a skilled consultant and possess excellent leadership qualities,
organisational and management skills and written and verbal communication
skills. An understanding of oncology is highly desirable.
