Rex has already described Southampton's procedures.
However, as an illustration of the importance of keeping accurate NOK data (names and addresses), we received a phone call last week from the Hampshire Motorway Police, requesting NOK of one of our students who had died at the scene of an RTA. With this information, the Motorway Police were able to contact the Police in his home town who could then, within a quite short time, visit his parents to break the dreadful news. and it does raise again the vexed question of what is meant by
"attending". Will they accept "well, they enrolled 8 months ago and
haven't withdrawn"?
