By making the transfer valid up until the first day of the second
year of the course (as opposed to the one year, ending on 31
August for false start) the DfEE assumed that resit results would
be available before the student embarked on the second year of a
course. This certainly applies at our Institution.

As you know, the date by which students have to
have made arrangements to transfer their student support
eligibility from one course to another has been brought
forward from 4 months after the beginning
of the first year (the 16 months rule)
to the 1st day of the 2nd year. This is
the first year the new deadline will operate.
Are any HEIs considering making changes to
their assessment procedures in the light of
this, as the previous deadline date allowed
for some students to change their course
after receiving their resit results?
