On this subject, the SLC are reluctant to provide accurate
date on wither institutions reports have actually been
received. I assume other colleagues sent their reports by
recorded delivery. This should offer some consolation when
the SLC are reluctant to try and locate the report when
requested to do so. I have been advised by Loans Admin/HEI
helpline, that I should contact them again on the 9th of
Feb.
This is of course unsatisfactory and implies yet again that
the SLC management are not able to learn from previous
mistakes, such as not anticipating the large numbers of
telephone calls from administrators and students regarding
late loan cheques.
The SLC need (urgently) to set up a proper system of
accountability, augmented by an acceptable level of service
for university administrators, dedicated phone lines,
named staff, responses to e-mail's and confirmation of
faxes received, to name a few. Each time I have asked for
the "hei helpline" I have been put through to Loans Admin
and each time the story differs. I have of course every
admiration for those answering the phones, but they do
seem (equally) ill informed of the procedures regarding the
attendance report.
