I think the answer to your spreadsheet suggestion is to export the data,
manipulate it in a spreadsheet and possibly a database, then import it back.
This is what I have done. You can add extra data such as faculty codes,
term patterns etc if that helps. I can send you my Excel and Access files as
a guide if you think they would be helpful.
The reason why the SLC does not want you to delete all the data and start
again is that the unique key is the SLC course code (not the UCAS code), and
many (most?) LEAs will have embedded these codes in their student records.
But you can change more or less everything else. I think the errors are
actually more easily dealt with in a spreadsheet, in which you can sort
courses into an appropriate order to compare with your own lists.
