Dear Colleagues,
I wonder if colleagues would be prepared to answer some
fairly simple questions regarding semesterisation and the
impact of holding referral or "resit" examination boards
close to he start of the next academic year? At UWE we are
interested in comparing practices and models
particularly in view of the pressures surrounding the
timing of referral/resit boards and the beginning of the
academic year.
I should be grateful for any responses to the following
questions by Weds 19 January if possible:
1) How long are your semesters (teaching block +
assessment periods)?
2) What is the last date of your examination period in
the summer?
3) what are the dates of your referral or resit
examination boards?
4) do you have an inter-semester break - if so , when?
5) do you have a full week's induction prior to the
beginning of semester 1?
6) do you have any other comments to make on the
structure of the academic year as it pertains to
your institution?
Many thanks for your co-operation in this matter,
Maureen McLaughlin
