SCOTTISH COMPUTER ASSISTED ASSESSMENT
NETWORK
********************************************************
The Scottish Computer Assisted Assessment Network (SCAAN)
is running a number of events across the country introducing
people to web-based assessment. The focus of these workshops
will be on raising awareness of available web-delivered
assessment engines, and we will give people the opportunity to
experiment with each of the engines being evaluated by the
project.
Events will be held in
Edinburgh University - 3rd May
Glasgow University - 4th May
St Andrews University - 12th May
There is also an event at Aberdeen University currently under
discussion. This event is likely to take place in June.
There are 20 places available for each of these events - all are
welcome to attend either the morning session, afternoon session,
or both.

package, both from an academic and a technical viewpoint and
considered ways in which questions developed in one package
can be easily transferred into another. This session, run by a
number of CAA developers and evaluators, is designed to help you
take your first steps into CAA and help you become informed of
the issues and considerations that need to be taken into
account when thinking about this area.
Attending this session will:

limitations of implementing a computer assisted assessment
system
* Inform you of the key decisions and choices you need to make
when deciding on a computer based assessment system
* Assist you safeguard any questions that you create, so they are
useable across different CAA packages
Session 2 (PM): Computer Assisted Assessment -
Demonstrations and Hands-on Session

that are crurently in use in Scottish Higher Education: WebTest,
Miranda and TRIADs. A short introducation will be followed by a
practical hands-on session where you will have an opportunity to
explore the packages in-depth.
Attending this session will:
