The Department of Performing Arts at Brunel University, West London, is
hosting an interdisciplinary conference on performance.
'Liminality' provides a means for researching into new ways of
practising and theorising at the beginning of the twenty-first century.
The conference is intended as a forum for enabling innovation and
experimentation in artistic and performance practices. Conference
proceedings to be published in a special issue of the forthcoming
journal Body, Space & Technology.
Presentations: Twenty-five papers and fifteen performances will be
presented by an international gathering of academics and practitioners
from around the world, including the UK, Korea, Australia, Israel, the
USA, Belgium, and countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
Deadline for registration is 17th March 2000.
The venue for the conference and practical sessions will be the
Twickenham Campus of Brunel University, which has eight performance
studios including five specialist dance studios. The campus is situated
by the River Thames less than twenty-five minutes by train from central
London.
There will be a range of onsite campus and external accommodation
available together with full catering and a conference bar.
Registration fee: £40 - £20 for students and unaffiliated.
