We have been using Learning Contracts with Design students for the
last two or three years. At times I think we have (over?) stressed the
"Contract" as against the "Learning", but they have proved an
effective way of supporting group and major self-initiated projects.

Has anybody used a learning contract or similar with HE art
and design students? I'd be interested in seeing examples and
hearing any advice people have for introducing them and getting
students to use them. I can see many advantages but I also feel
it would be difficult getting the students to do them - unless
they're assessed in some way.
