Hello everyone,
I have and issue to bring up I would like some feed back on. We
are often discussing environments which create poor or no access
for disabled people, but I was visiting a friend the other day and we
were discussing the issue of an accessible environment which is
now non-accessible to the average non-disabled person.
As a dwarf person we often have our home environments altered to
fit our needs. For example: We have the kitchen units lowered as
well as door handles/locks, we have our toilet/bathroom also
modified to suit our needs. This can sometimes cause problems
for our guests or even average sized partners, such as back
problems or usually strain on the body, which might I add we
(dwarfs) deal with on an everyday basis even in "accessible"
environments because they are designed for the wheelchair user or
other situation difficulties.
Have any of you come across a situation or accessible environment
which actually created difficulties for you?
Take care,
Jude
