HI Jim
thanks for the reply I suppose what struck me from what you said
was perhaps I did not find what I was looking for because it was not
there. In the UK our Building Regulations (Codes) are a fairly dry
legal document which are then interpreted in a set of "deemed to
comply" documents which are are also commonly known as
"Building Regulations" they are really called Approved Documents
and each section is given a letter. Access and facilities for disabled
people is Part M. This approved document is a performance based
code which explains one way to comply with the building
regulations, although you can go aboout it however you want as
long as the authorities approve your approach.
So where does this get me I suppose what I was looking for was
the performance based codes and how variable they were between
countries.
it is interesting Jim that you mention that the local code is hidden
away and does this say something about the attitude of those who
choose to "hide" it ?
Anyway you have spurred me on to go back and revisit the site i
mentioned to investigate it in more detail, so thank you for
reinvigorating me!!
