Happy New Year everyone,
Yes, I must say I did shock the research team with my terminology. ;-)
The word Dwarf is defined as - person or thing much below the usual size
(Oxford dictionary), well that is definitely me. The term dwarf is used
quite often by dwarf people in the USA and even in England, but the 'average
height world' can have a hard time excepting it. Probably because of
childhood fairy tales, but fairy tales are just fun stories and most people
can sperate reality from make-believe.
After reading Rita's post it chimed a few bells for me. While growing up the
term 'special needs' was so often used in school and when this label was put
on you some people could be quite patronising, so maybe that is why I dislike
the term.
Take care,
Jude
