Hello all,
I was delighted to find such a forum on the net. I thought I would
drop a line to notify you of my inclusion on the list and introduce
myself.
My name is Jim Kelleher, I have recently started work here at the
University of London as a Building Surveyor co-ordinating and
carrying out the Access Audits to the University's building stock in
connection with the DDA.
My background most recently was in Social Housing having formerly
worked at a north London Housing Association and the City
Architects Division of Dublin Corporation , where disability issues
arose on an almost daily basis. Access for all to the built
environment is an area with interests me greatly. Previous to this I
was a post graduate researcher/teacher at the Dublin Institute of
Technology.
If anyone has previous experience of conducting access audits for
a university campus I'd be gratefull for any suggustions or advice
regarding approaches for conducting the audits , report formats etc
. . .
[In the past I have seen some consultant drafted audit reports and
quite frankly, I have fond them to be long-winded, repetitive and cumbersome to
follow. I'm probably being a bit harsh on this one.]
I look forward to hearing from some of you and contributing to this
discussion forum.
Best regards,
Jim Kelleher
