Hi all
apologies for any cross-postings and please feel free to forward this
onto any other relevant lists or colleagues.
We have been fortunate enough to be awarded an EPSRC
(Engineering and Physical Science Research Council) studentship
which will pay the fees and provide a bursary of 6000 pounds
sterling per year for a UK or EU student to undertake a PhD in the
field of accessible environments at the University of Salford in our
research centre (SURFACE). This would usually be over two years
with a further year of writing up period if required.
The suggested fields of study can be items to do with physical
access issues in the built environment or it can be about less
physical aspects such as human computer interfaces (HCI). For
more information please contact myself and also visit our research
website (address given in signature below). Please note that we are
keen to involve anyone who has an interest in the subject matter
and both ourselves and EPSRC will provide support to enable the
successful applicant to complete their studies. When contacting
us it would be helpful to indicate what area of accessibility you
would be interested in conducting your PhD in. Applicants should
hold a good undergraduate honours degree (i.e. first or 2.1) or a
Masters degree.
The applicants have to be classed as UK or certain EU country
residents to qualify and further information on this can be obtained
through the EPSRC website www.epsrc.ac.uk or by discussion
with myself.
I am hoping to complete the paperwork on this studentship in the
next month, although the actual start date will be by mutual
agreement.
thank you for reading this message.
