Apologies for cross posting,

May 11th 2000, Half Day Workshop, Central Birmingham.

Use of key skills and occupational standards in the design of placement
units.

The Key/Core Skills Knowledge and Understanding in the Built Environment
project (K3UBE) has been funded by the European Social Fund and carried out
by a research team from the Built Environment Education Development Services
Unit at the University of Central England. Charged with investigating and
testing ways of using occupational standards, key skills and knowledge and
understanding in aiding Higher Education course designers.
This workshop will review the ways in which the team has used occupational
standards to overhaul and redesign a year long, placement unit.
The approach is designed to be transferable to all industry sectors and
could prove useful to all involved in placements, wider course design, and
also those involved in occupational standards, NVQ systems and work-based
teaching and learning.

The event is free, and runs from 12.30 to 4.30, with a buffet lunch, short
presentations, group and plenary sessions and an opportunity to question and
discuss the approach.

Places are limited so please contact:
