Hi,
I have a question to ask regarding karabiners. Has anyone ever come
across screwgates of karabiners open at the end of a climb during
rockclimbing or ropes course even when the screwgates were locked? I
think people usually tie in for rockclimbing activities but there are
some who still use the karabiner and clip into the climber's harness.
Some practise the half turn back on the karabiner when locking the
karabiner to the tie-in loop. Is this something that should not be done?
One of the consideration to do a half turn back is so as not to 'jam'
the karabiner. But on one case, when the climber was lowered, the
screwgate actually became
loose and was open when doing a squeeze check.
I just want to find out if people have similar experiences and what
they have done to respond to the issue. Thanks.
Kahlid
