Hi Simon and all
I can briefly answer part of your e mail regarding JAEOL.
First, the name will remain the Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor
Leadership. It is three years since it changed from this to Horizons as the
professional magazine and we are making a clear distinction between the
academic journal and the professional magazine.
Kaye Richards and I are both keen to encourage research submissions for the
journal. Presently we have some research submissions under review and we are
encouraging several other researchers to submit.
I hope this answers your questions, and of course we look forward to
research submissions as well as social commentary and philosophical
investiagtions.
For further information check the www page or e mail myself or Kaye Richards

Best wishes

Of all the journals in our field, AJOE (Australian Journal of Outdoor
Education) has consistently shown a high commitment to publishing research
(due in large part to the impressive work of Tonia Gray and others who
support her).
Historically JEE (Journal of Experiential Education) has not published much
research (except the occasional issue and a few notes devoted to research),
but I am hoping this changes with the advent of Alan Ewert as the new
editor of JEE.
I am also curious to hear whether the new plans for JAEOL (Journal of
Adventure Education and Outdoor Leadership -- is the name changing?) are
heavy on research or not. Anyone out there have an answer? Any other
journals? Thanks.
Lastly, James Neill <[log in to unmask]> edits SC (Scisco
Conscentia: an electronic journal), where authors can submit their works in
progress for refereed expert review followed by peer discussion. Both the
review and the peer discussion that follows, help the author to strengthen
his/her manuscript. With the intent of increasing the quality and quantity
of research in our field, SC does not prevent or restrict the author from
publishing an improved version of the same work in other journals. Contact
James for submission details and free subscription details (or perhaps
he'll post them here again). Thanks.
REGARDS! Simon Priest, PhD
