Since having sent my last email I walk out of the library and
realise that as a research based discussion group discussing the
issue of gender what we also need to examine alongside gender in an
outdoor context is gender in the Higher Education Context. This
allows us to both acknowledge and realise that the structural trends
in higher education influence our personal expereinces and the
research processes we complete... For example the question as raised
in the text below... " the inhospitable nature of the academy to many
women's being" (Hughes,C , 1999)
Higher education systems inevitably influences management of higher
education systems in outdoor education and therefore an
issue which I think lies central to any discussion of gender which
includes a research perspective.
