The AGM of the Library Association University College and Research Group
Welsh Section will take place at the Learning Resources Centre, University
of Glamorgan, Pontypridd on Friday 5 May 2000 at 2pm
This very brief AGM will be followed by two high-profile speakers addressing
themes that continue to both draw and challenge academic librarians in equal
measure: lifelong learning and cooperation.
Professor Danny Saunders, Director of the Centre for Lifelong Learning at
the University of Glamorgan will speak on 'The four L's: Libraries and Life
Long Learning'.
Douglas Laird of the Welsh Development Association will speak about the role
of the WDA Library and how it is using the web to develop a virtual library
service. Based on practical examples and his wealth of experience in
libraries and industry, he will also outline ideas on interlibrary
cooperation to obtain better deals from suppliers of electronic information.
Refreshments will be available. There is no charge for this event and all
are welcome to the talks. Booking is not essential but it will help to have
an idea of numbers, so if you plan to attend, please email the Hon.
