Assistant Conservator (Preservation)
[Non-superannuable fixed-term post, to the end of May 2000 in the first
instance]
An opportunity to further your conservation experience working on a major
collection of international importance.
A vacancy exists to join the team working on Historic Collections Projects.
Your role will be to offer conservation and preservation support, involving
the construction of conservation boxes and packaging for rare books and
documents, and the identification and recording of any items requiring
attention. You will also carry out minor repair and refurbish items as
required.
The successful applicant should possess experience of conservation
packaging, both with bound volumes and flat paper, and have fast and
accurate bench skills. You will be responsible to the Library's
Preservation and Conservation Officer, but need to be able to work
unsupervised to pre-determined output levels. Some knowledge of paper
repair and book refurbishment would be desirable.
The post is full-time, but we will consider applicants interested in
part-time or job-share arrangements.
Salary in the range £13,823 - £15,666 (incl. L.A.)
