CHEST is pleased to announce a 60 day trial of Global NewsBank for UK
Higher Education Institutions.
NewsBank has provided the following information:
NewsBank, inc. has provided primary source news information to
educational institutions worldwide for almost 30 years. To introduce
NewsBank to academic institutions in the United Kingdom, NewsBank is
negotiating with CHEST to offer its Global NewsBank product for a free
60-day trial period, beginning on April 17, 2000.
For new subscribing libraries there is free usage of the product until
July 1 when the CHEST Agreement would begin.
Among a wide selection of information databases, Global NewsBank stands
out as unique, offering easy access to international news on a broad
scale.
* The database contains articles which are timely, relevant, and of
the highest research quality.
* It is perfect for those seeking information on issues and events
of global significance, offering unique insight on the impact such
issues have at local, regional, national and global levels.
* Global NewsBank covers a broad array of international news
articles taken from a wide variety of sources, each editorially reviewed
and selected for research quality, source relevance, and balance
of coverage.
* Only Global NewsBank gives researchers access to some 400,000
fully indexed articles taken from more than 1,000 news sources -
including broadcasts, newswires, and newspapers - all in a single
database.
* Global NewsBank covers a number of UK sources, including the
Independent and the Daily Telegraph. Additional coverage from
sources in the UK, Europe, and Asia is under development.
NewsBank's pricing is economical and customized to CHEST members. The
price of a subscription to small institutions is £1,540, for medium
institutions it is £1,775, and for large institutions it is £2,010.

annual and guaranteed for three years.
Current Global NewsBank subscribers may elect to join the CHEST
Agreement January 1, 2001 after their 2000 subscription expires.
