BRIEFING: SOCIAL EXCLUSION AND PUBLIC LIBRARIES
(presented by the North Western Branch of the Library Association in
association with the Social Exclusion Action Planning Network and the
LIC-funded research team on this topic)
Tuesday 11th April 2000
9.30-4.00 Stretford Leisure Centre
Greatstone Road, Stretford, Manchester.
You may have seen the news feature in the latest LA Record "Imagine
all the people" referring to the "hot topic of social inclusion" and
mentioning some of the ways in which current developments in public
libraries can lead to social exclusion. This event offers a chance
to discuss these issues and should suggest ideas for participants to
take away and implement in their own services. Speakers will bring
participants up-to-date with progress on the research project
"Public Library Policy and Social Exclusion" and will encourage
feedback on the project.
The event is free to LA members and will include lunch and a tour of
the Greatstone Library, which is housed in the Leisure Centre.
Please contact me via email or phone to book your place or to find
out more. Closing date is the 31st March, but I should be able to
include anyone who rings me on the morning of the 3rd.
Apologies for any duplication between lists!
Alison Cullingford.
