Do you take your professional development seriously? Then you can't afford
to miss:
Practical approaches to lifelong learning
on 23 May at Library Association HQ, in London
"The viability of an organisation as a whole, may rest on the ability of
employees to continue to learn"
Nancy Dixon.
Too few organisations seem to realise the significance of the above
statement. Whether at organisational or individual level, the good are
getting better, and the less competent and/or complacent are, at least in
relative terms, falling rather behind. This day is for the former of the
group - it will be of no interest to the rest!
How will this event help you?
Despite the attention given to lifelong learning, this for too many
organisations and individual remains an abstract, enigmatic concept, rather
than a practical, self-managed reality. This day will help you to start the
process of moving beyond the fine words to take the actions that turn theory
into practice.
By the end of the day you will be able to:
* move away from costly training, and towards genuinely self-managed
learning
* decide what you can do to take more responsibility for your own
development
* take actions that contribute to yours becoming a true learning
organisation
Who will benefit from attending?
Anyone who wants practical advice on creating the right organisational
climate for learning, and, whatever the organisational conditions, how as
individuals, we can genuinely manage our own learning and development. This
intensive, participative workshop will interest people for whom learning
means much more than attending training courses, and whose personal
development is too important to be left to anyone else.
Workshop leader: Andrew Gibbons. Andrew is an independent trainer who is an
acting lifelong learner - having kept a personal learning log since February
1987.
