Hello Everybody
Here at the University of Wales Aberystwyth we are implementing a system
which we hope will tidy up and standardise our notice board and poster
provision around Information Services. The approach we have taken is one of
themed noticeboards with standard IS banners, these are located in all the
various locations of Information Services and are looked after by a group of
"poster authorizing staff". The whole lot is supervised and guided by a
Posters Working Party.
Among the various issues which we have tried to look at are
- using "take down by" dates to ensure an adequate turn over of posters
- making sure all posters are marked with a person who is responsible for
content/production
- the use of bus stop boards for stop press and urgent notices
- the provision of a "core" set of posters covering things such as service
opening hours/IS web site/health & safety to be made available in all
location in IS
- the provision of bi-lingual posters
- offering some design guidelines to poster authors.
Has anyone else out there implemented any noticeboard or poster policies in
their libraries or Information Services who would be willing to share
information and experiences with us ?
If there are a sufficient number of replies I will summarise for the list.
Many thanks for your help
Jackie Knowles
