Career Development Group National Conference
(A group of the Library Association, Registered Charity Number 313014 )
Flexible Futures: New and Changing Ways of Working
19th-21st May 2000
Stakis Hotel, Bristol
Rapidly developing social and economic trends are changing the way in which we
live and work. Technology alone has had a huge influence on the way in
which we all exist, and as information professionals we need to assess
how these changes affect our role.
Change in the workplace, with new opportunities in the information employment
market, will affect us all, whether we are in a new and exciting work
environment or in a more traditional information role, struggling to keep up
with the pace of change around us. As the profession with responsibility for
managing information assets, we have the potential to develop fresh and
exciting opportunities.
How do we adapt to new and different ways of working and acquire the key skills
needed to fulfill our ever increasingly vital role within our varied
organisations?
This years Career Development Group National Conference aims to explore the
wide ranging issues surrounding our 'Flexible Futures' and begin to answer
some of these important questions. A weekend of linked lectures and workshops
from key figures in the contemporary information world will allow delegates both reactive
and participative involvement in the weekend's proceedings. In all, there
will be learning opportunities of practical relevance to all library and
information professionals, in addition to the enjoyable and beneficial
opportunities of meeting and networking with delegates from across the
various disciplines of the information sector.
We look forward to welcoming you to a relevent and fascinating conference.
