Data protection legislation in the electronic environment
a briefing for information managers - repeated by popular demand
Thursday March 23rd and Monday April 10th 2000
£110 plus VAT (£129.25)
briefing outline
The EU Data Privacy Directive will be implemented in the UK in March 2000 as
the Data Protection Act 1998. The more stringent requirements of the new
Act will give rise to complex issues for companies operating web sites,
online services and intranets to collect, store and access personal data.
Although in February 2000 the EU and the US reached a 'tentative agreement'
that protects the privacy of EU citizens when their personal data is
exported to the US, there are still significant implications for data
exported from the EU.
This briefing builds on the success of the three previous events (all of
which were over-subscribed) run by TFPL over the last six months. It will
be led by Eduardo Ustaran of Paisner & Co. who contributed to both the
previous sessions and is an acknowledged expert in the field. As with the
previous events, there will be plenty of opportunity for question and
discussion and delegates are encouraged to participate.
