They will be: the phone is their PC (and vice versa). Mobile phone
manufacturers already produce PC-mobile phone hybrids and WAP enabled
phones are going to become the norm in the few years. Approaching the
issue from the other end, I'm in the early stages of building a homebrewed
wearable PC that will almost certainly contain audio hardware and some
sort of wireless comms. I intend to eventually have a machine that I can
wear throughout the day and hopefully replace both my mobile and laptop.
In the not too distant future people will want to use their phone/wearable
to connect to their home/office/whereever machines to check details,
upload information or check for email whereever they are. Think of the
mobile phone as a wearable PC that just happens to handle voice calls as
well as normal data comms and processing. Are you going to ask people to
leave their wearable PCs at the issue desk as well? What about when they
start to get implants? Do I have to leave my arm at the door? ;-)
