Summary:
This reports on the results of focus groups with students from the Schools
of Biosciences and Medicine at the University of Birmingham when they were
asked to evaluate BUILDER's hybrid library demonstrator. There was a good
deal of postive feedback about the concept of the hybrid library and many of
the 3rd year students felt that such a Web-based interface providing a
personalised view and seamless access to resources would have made their
lives much easier, particularly on first coming to the University. There was
a general feeling, however, from students that they would like to have
access to more information via such an interface such as information about
their courses, School, Careers information, the Guild etc. In other words,
the students wanted a personalised Web portal onto themselves at the
University of Birmingham.
