Get to grips with the range of services and tools on the Internet in:
Guided tour of the Internet
A one day Library Association workshop on 12 February, in London
The Internet is not only an invaluable tool for gaining access to
information, but also allows the user to become a provider of information.
For library and information professionals this role in navigating through
this system is fast becoming vital.
Benefits from attending
This event will provide a practical introduction to the Internet and will
help participants understand first hand the range of services and
facilities, which confront the typical user.
By the end of the event participants will have:
* explored the types of information available on the Internet
* discovered which tools to use to access this information
* gained awareness of the practical uses of the Internet by libraries
and information services - with examples of innovative projects
* learnt how to choose an Internet connection service provider
* looked at the different forms of service delivery
* examined the different methods of collection
* explored the range of services available: Email, World Wide Web,
Bulletin Boards, Gopher, Netscape, MSN
