4) Clarification for PsycINFO invoices
5) Online Information 2000 Exhibition

1) CHEST/Lexis® Nexis® Executive Agreement
   ---------------------------------------
CHEST is pleased to announce that we have now finalised arrangements with
Lexis® Nexis® Europe for the transfer from the FT Discovery product set to
Lexis® Nexis® Executive. The webpage and associated paperwork will be available
on Monday 27th November 2000. The URL will be:

http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/executive/

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that it remains a
requirement of the Licensee (Institution) that it is satisfied that the end
user is an employee, student, or other person authorised by the Licensee for
the purposes of the normal business of the Licensee's organisation.
Institutions are reminded that "normal business" constitutes learning, teaching
and academic research in association with bona fide causes of the
Institution/Licensee.

Please note that whilst Lexis® Nexis® Executive is licensed under the same
terms and conditions as were in place previously for FT Discovery, end users do
need to be aware of some additional terms for specific materials. These
additional terms relate to certain specific geographical restrictions for the
supply of information and do not affect the majority of data sources that
comprise the Lexis® Nexis® Executive product. The material affected can be
found at http://www/lexis-nexis.com/LNE/lneterms.htm and is contained in the
section entitled "LEXIS®-NEXIS® Services SUPPLEMENTAL TERMS FOR SPECIFIC
MATERIALS March 1, 2000".

2) Upgrade to Bartholomews Europe & GB Data
   -----------------------------------------
CHEST has been provided with upgraded Bartholomews Europe and GB data,
as follows:

European data -
Export
   Coverages
     MapInfo Tab
       ESRI Shape
        Rasters *

GB Data -
Coverages
                Export
MapInfo Tab
            ESRI Shape

GB Gazetteer

Each of the above is on a separate CD.

* This CD contains European raster data in Lambert Projection and
Lat/Long Projection format. Sites requiring this new Raster data
should therefore specifically request this when ordering their upgrades.

There is a new "Upgrades Order Form" on the CHEST web pages at:
http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/barts/

This should be completed and returned to CHEST with an official
purchase order, addressed to "EduServ" to cover the cost of media (£25
per CD).

The distribution of the upgrades will be the responsibility of CHEST,
and we will endeavour to turn your order round within seven working
days.

These new releases are also available to download from MIMAS, subject
to registration. See http://www.mimas.ac.uk/maps/barts/.

3) Statement from Bureau van Dijk
   ------------------------------
The following statement has been provided by Bureau van Dijk in response to
recent problems experienced by Sites in accessing BvD products.

"Bureau van Dijk (BvD) is aware that several academic clients have recently
been experiencing problems connecting to and using our Internet products. By
liaising with the JANET administration, we discovered that there was a
bottleneck at the London Internet Exchange (LINX) between our ISP (KPN) and the
JANET network. As a result of pressure from both BvD and JANET this problem
has now been rectified. Initial feedback from a number of clients suggests
that by eliminating this bottleneck, access speeds to our Internet
products are much improved. In order for us to continually
monitor whether this is the case, we would ask you to report any
concerns to BvD, so we can act on them. Should you have any
queries, or if you would like a more detailed description of the
problem, do not hesitate to contact BvD on 020 7549 5000 Again we
would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

4) Clarification for PsycINFO invoices
   -----------------------------------
CHEST would like to remind Sites licensed under the CHEST/APA Agreement for
PsycINFO (whether licensed for the NISS/Ovid or BIDS/Silverplatter service)that
the invoice from EduServ (CHEST) covers both the data fee AND the service
provision fee.

5) Online Information 2000 Exhibition
   ----------------------------------
A list of exhibitors at Online during the conference 5 - 7
December 2000 is located at:

http://www.online-information.co.uk/ol00/e_list.asp?view=exhibition&area=exhibition.

CHEST will be in attendance talking to several existing
and potential suppliers. If you would like to meet CHEST staff to
discuss any existing CHEST agreement Emma Thompson can be located at the
MCB (Stand 428 Level 1) on Tuesday 5th December between 14:00 - 15:00
and Heather Franklin can be located at the Ovid Technologies Ltd (Stand
180 Ground Floor) on Wednesday 6th December between 15:00 - 16:00.

If your institution is thinking of taking a subscription to any product
which is not currently the subject of a CHEST agreement you can either
"wish" for it at http://www.chest.ac.uk/cgi-bin/wishes or advise CHEST
of your intention to buy by e-mailing [log in to unmask] CHEST cannot
guarantee that an agreement will result but if sufficient requests are
received we will endeavor to meet your needs.
