RSLP Retroconversion Project in Middle Eastern Studies
Senior Library Assistant (full time or 75% fte)
This is a fixed-term, externally-funded post, available from
1st January 2001 to 30th September 2001.
The project will entail the creation of catalogue records
for material in the Library’s collection of Arabic language
material (including c4000 titles in Arabic script); records
will be created in machine-readable form to RSLP project
standards, using systems allowing input in both Arabic
and
romanised script.
Applicants should be experienced cataloguers, fully
conversant with AACR2, MARC, LCSH and with a fluent
understanding of Arabic text and construction of Arabic
script and experience of romanisation to ALA standard.
Good
IT and interpersonal skills are essential.
Grade: Clerical 4 or 5 (£13,938 - £19,227) according to
experience.
Hours: 36.5 per week. The opportunity is available to
work
27.25 hours per week in which case the contract would
terminate on 31st December 2001.
