Managing Agent and Advisory Service Moving Pictures and Sound in UK HE/FE
Full-time Assistant
The British Universities Film & Video Council (BUFVC), in partnership with
the Open University, has been awarded contracts under JISC 5/00 to (i)
establish an agent to select and clear rights in moving picture and sound
content for delivery online to universities and colleges in the UK, and (ii)
to establish an advisory service to inform users about the tools,
technologies and pedagogical issues relating to this new form of delivery.
The contract for this work will initially be for three years (with the
potential to extend to five years and beyond).
The BUFVC is seeking to appoint a full-time member of staff to assist the
Managing Agent and Advisory Service to be based at BUFVC's premises in
central London.
The salary for the post will be circa £19,000 p.a. on a scale equivalent to
British Film Institute Grade 8.
The person to be appointed will be a graduate with a knowledge of:
1. information technology and web delivery in higher and further education
2. teaching and research processes
3. moving picture and sound content and its value for use in teaching and
research
4. copyright
5. metadata in relation to the delivery of time-based media
This is a key appointment in the start-up process for two services which are
part of the Distributed National Educational Resource (DNER see
http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/) which is working towards the integration of
moving picture and sound resources for online delivery with other content to
support teaching and research.
