Here at University of Central England we are planning to implement a
Training Hour for all staff in all of our libraries (8 spread out across the
city) . We would be interested to hear from anyone who has done this
already with ideas/problems etc.
We are particularly interested in the following areas:
* How often you have a training hour (e.g. weekly/monthly).
* When you hold the training hour and how you decided on that time.
* Do you close your library while the training hour is in progress, or
if not, how do you cope with being open (e.g. full service, limited service,
reference only)?
* What is the purpose of your training hour (targeted
training/specific issues e.g. Health & Safety/refresher training)
* Do you use your training hour as part of a Personal Development Plan
for staff?
* Anything else you think would be useful for us to think about before
we design and implement our own training hour
