2. OCLC Web Express
--------------------
CHEST is in discussion with OCLC regarding provision of OCLC Web
Express. This is a product which will provide simple, simultaneous
searching of a library's resources through one web-based interface.
The following description has been provided by OCLC:
"With OCLC WebExpress you can easily integrate access to resources that
you currently provide through disparate interfaces into a single
information gateway so that your users can search resources
simultaneously and quickly find the information they need. For example,
your users could search both your local catalogue and several remote
online databases at the same time.
The key to the integration provided by OCLC WebExpress is the Z39.50
standard information retrieval protocol. However, WebExpress provides
"manual free" access to Z39.50 compliant resources by allowing
non-technical staff to simply pick from a list of database and server
configurations already tested by OCLC. Within just a few hours, you can
easily connect to all your Z39.50 electronic resources. WebExpress also
keeps you up-to-date by automatically receiving resource configuration
upgrades from the central OCLC WebExpress Service Centre.
If there is a Z39.50 resource which you would like to access which we do
not currently offer, simply let us know and we will do to the necessary
configuration and testing before adding it to our list.
The OCLC WebExpress software itself is easy to use. A series of simple
wizards will guide you through the installation and customisation of
your integrated gateway. With your library name placed prominently on
each page of the user interface, WebExpress helps you reinforce your
position as the key information provider for your user community.
For more information on OCLC WebExpress please see

If your insititution is interested in this product please send a message

full-text documents. Each year approximately 1,000 new, full-text
documents are added, providing the user with direct access to required
documentation without the need for librarian assistance.
Selected full-text documents are either appended to their respective
citations or linked to the actual document residing elsewhere on the
Internet . Currently, more than 4,000 links to cited UN documents are
included.
AccessUN is updated monthly. Indexing of current year material usually
appears within six to eight weeks from the time a document is drafted."
