Don't miss your chance to attend this informative half-day seminar and

The EU Directive: all things to all people or a millennium timebomb?
Monday 20 March, 2000, Olympia
The Library Association is delighted to be able to bring you the following
seminar which we hope will make your visit to the London International Book
Fair 19-21 March, even more enjoyable and worthwhile.
The 'EU Directive on Copyright in the Information Society' is arguably the
most controversial of all the copyright Directives in the EU harmonsiation
programme and will affect future access and use of copyright material in the
information society.
It is a topic which is being hotly debated all over Europe between all
sectors of the information chain.
What does it contain and why all the fuss? Will it ever be adopted in the
UK? You will have an opportunity to receive an update on the latest draft
and its timescale. You will be able to catch up on the Directive's
implications for authors, artists, photographers, the music industry as well
as the library and education sectors. Why not come and hear their views and
join in the debate.
