RSLP Project Assistant
ARCHway: gateway to resource sharing in archaeology
A Research Support Libraries Programme Project
A Project Assistant is required for the RSLP ARCHway Project, which is
evaluating whether and how it will be possible to enhance access to
archaeology journals and related materials through collaborative
collection management, a web gateway to journal holdings, and current
awareness and document delivery services. The project is led by the
University of York Library and involves working closely with the
Archaeology Data Service and 18 higher education partners, plus other
organisations in the UK with collections in archaeology. The post is
based in the J.B. Morrell Library on the main campus of the University
of York and will be for a fixed period until 29 March 2002.
More information about the project is available at

We are seeking a flexible and well organised person to assist the
Project Manager in all aspects of the project. Duties will
include: liaison, carrying out surveys, dissemination activities,
maintaining the project web site and union list of journals database,
carrying out research and writing reports.
You will need to be self-motivated and able to work closely with
library and information services staff and archaeology research staff
in a variety of HE, research and other organisations. Experience of or
an interest in archaeology, research or information work, collection

organisational and communication skills are essential. Professional
library or archaeology qualifications would be desirable. Familiarity
