Subject: Unavailability of Services
The Manchester Computing machine room was affected by a major
incident at approximately 10pm on Thursday 17th August. A number of
MIMAS service machines were adversely affected and as a result they
are unavailable pending the arrival of replacement hardware. The
MIMAS service machines affected are the E6500 (Irwell), the E4500
(Tame) and the E4000 (JSTOR). Consequently, the following services
are unavailable:
COPAC
JSTOR
E6500 based services (Census, Surveys, Time Series, Digital Map &
Satellite Data, Statistical Software, and Archives Hub)
In addition, the ISI Web of Science service is running a restricted
hardware configuration and is therefore 'at risk'.
The MIMAS webpages are also unavailable. Also, the various MIMAS
email helplines (e.g. [log in to unmask]) are currently not
operational.
It is expected that the above services will be unavailable until
Monday 21st August at the earliest. We are working hard to get the
services operational again and we apologize for any inconvenience
caused by this service outage.
A further announcement will be sent out on Monday 21st August. Until
then please contact the MIMAS help desk (Tel: 0161 - 275 - 6109) for
further information and/or advice.
