JISC LICENSING PRINCIPLES -- NEW!!
Available online are the new JISC Licensing Principles,
developed to inform national negotiations in the UK for
electronic information. This document outlines what the
JISC, and its negotiation agents, try to achieve on behalf
of the UK further and higher education communities.
It will be of interest to:
* publishers and suppliers of electronic information who
hope to provide information for/through the UK's
Distributed National Electronic Resource.
* those who manage college and university collections
in the UK that are built, in part, through subscriptions to
nationally-negotiated content.
* other individuals and organisations involved in the
commercial licensing of electronic information.
Development of these licensing principles has been led by
the Content Working Group of the JISC's Committee for
Electronic Information. A special thanks is due to Claire
Jenkins for all her efforts in leading the development of
these principles, and to the many colleagues in
universities who have asked for a clear policy in
this important area. We would also like to acknowledge
previous licensing work carried out by the JISC/PA, ICOLC,
NESLI, the CIC, and colleagues in Germany and the
Netherlands.
